Aloo Bonda | Potato Bonda | Batata Vada Recipe | Potato Fritters | Bombay Potato Vada. Aloo Bonda is a popular Indian vegetarian fast food recipe. It is a deep-fried tasty snack, made with gram flour batter and stuffed with spiced mashed potatoes.

Directions
First boil the potatoes. Then peel and mash them when they are still warm.
Now heat 2 tsp oil in a kadai and add 1 tsp mustard seeds, ½ tsp cumin seeds, ½ tsp urad dal, 1 chopped green chilli, a pinch of asafoetida and few curry leaves, allow to splutter.
Add 1 chopped onion, 1 tsp chopped ginger and sauté till they are translucent.
Add mashed potato, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ¼ tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp garam masala powder and 1 tbsp lemon juice.
Mix well making sure everything is combined well.
Take a bowl add 1 cup gram flour, ¼ cup rice flour, ¼ tsp turmeric powder, ¼ tsp red chilli powder, ¼ tsp cumin seeds and salt to taste.
Combine all the ingredients well. Then add in water as required and prepare a thick flowing consistency batter.
Prepare a ball from the prepared aloo masala.
Heat oil in a kadai, dip each potato ball in the batter and coat it well with the batter.
Now deep fry in hot oil. Fry till the bonda turns golden and crisp.
Drain them on paper towels to remove excess oil.
